While Internet Explorer doesn't do a great job at conforming to web standards, Netscape Navigator barely gets off the starting line. It's just a little too old to work with except for the most basic hypertext documents.
The later versions (especially "Communicator") are regrettably bloated with junk apps, makes revisiting this one a bit sad. Best to keep your good memories intact and skip straight to the Gecko version. However, at that point you may as well just go with Firefox instead.
